Before moving to Maine, Heidi had lived in Maryland where she worked for two small animal practices as well as two 24 hour emergency clinics. She has been in the veterinary field for about 33 years, working as a front office coordinator, non-licensed technician and manager. Her volunteer work with a local animal shelter in the Baltimore area prompted her to create a rescue league for the numerous unwanted pets, research animals and castaways. So, when she first moved to Maine, she was a client with 4 dogs and 17 cats! In 1998, after a short hiatus from the veterinary profession, she approached Dr. Smith to become a team member. "I knew after meeting Dr. Smith and Laurie that this was the place I wanted to work! I had confidence in the high quality of medicine practiced and was so impressed by their genuine warmth and honesty, sincere compassion for pets, and their friendly approach to great customer service! I miss 'teching' at times, but the diversity of the business keeps me busy. I love helping all the wonderful clients, furry friends, and being part of such a super team!" Heidi's other interests include salvaging and restoring old buildings; landscaping and gardening; travel and collecting/selling antiques. She shares her home with two dogs, "Cider" and "Camden" and a British Shorthair >^..^< named "Nyx"; all shelter adoptees or 'rescues'.
